Effect of fiber length on the consolidation parameters of coir fiber-reinforced soft clay

Coir fibers are natural with high tensile strength and pressure resistance, making them an alternative soil reinforcement material. However, the effect of fiber length on improving consolidation properties has yet to be largely explored. Therefore, this study investigated content coir soft mechanical behavior through a series one-dimensional tests. Fibers >10 mm 30 >30 50 lengths were mixed randomly into varying content, ranging from 0.00% 1.25% total weight mixture. The relationship between effective stress void ratio was explored, unveiling that specimens reinforced decreased more gradually than those unreinforced. An increase in reduced compression index (Cc) value enhanced coefficient (Cv) value, longer producing significant values due excellent interactions fibers. mm-50 yielded optimum Cc Cv at contents 0.50% 0.75%.
